My fascination with photography began at an early age as I watched my father photograph family and friends at many social gatherings. My father learned what he knew about photography while in the Navy and during his tenure at Polaroid Corporation. He was an expert at capturing the mood, emotions and personalities of people on film.

Throughout my life I contemplated learning more about photography and following in my father’s footsteps. However, when it came time to choose a major in college, I decided to follow what I thought to be a more practical path and obtained a degree in Marketing. It was not until I was in my 30’s and looking for a way to enhance my graphic art skills that I came upon a digital photography program at RISD. It was the perfect opportunity to explore both interests.

As a result of my participation in this program, I have developed an even greater appreciation for the minutest details of my surroundings. Everything is a photo opportunity. It has become an outlet for expressing my feelings and a way of capturing details of people, places and things that we tend to take for granted in our day to day lives. I strive to create images that stir emotion or reveal something unexpected about the subject.

I am just at the beginning stage of my photographic journey. I intend to expand my collection to include more portraits, still life images and fine art. I look forward to gaining a new perspective of the world through my camera lens.
